Taqwa Alnaqbi (b. Khorfakkan UAE, 1994) is an Emirati artist whose works incorporates handmade papers and mixed media. Her works are inspired by personal experiences that come from her surroundings, which she savors and celebrates through her art. In the Grandmother’s Dress series, Taqwa incorporated fibers from her grandmother’s dresses into the handmade papers process, and embroidered her grandmother's drawings onto the paper with Talli threads as a mean to preserve memories of her grandmother and to celebrate the UAE’s intangible cultural heritage of embroidery practice.
