Abdul Qader Hassan Al Mubarak, (b. Khartoum, Sudane 1951), draws inspiration from the natural beauty and landscapes of his homeland for his artwork. Graduating in 1978 with a degree in Painting from the College of Fine and Applied Arts in Khartoum, Al Mubarak has been teaching art in the UAE since 1980. He started off traditionally as a realistic painter, progressing in still-life and charcoal painting, studying carefully the rules and grammar of colour and texture. Then gradually but spontaneously, he shifted to semi-abstract paintings, but his latest works are spiced with ornament or decorative units to provide that feeling of form and space, common to all painters.
Evolving his style over time to abstractionism, he has participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions since 1995, including notable events such as the Sharjah Biennale in 1995 and 1999, the Bangladesh Biennale in 2001, Majlis Gallery in 2001, Art Attack in 2001, and Swiss Art Gate in 2013. Recognized for his contributions, Al-Mubarak has been honored with the Al Burda prize three times by the Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Community Development in the UAE.
