The Medium is The Message
In 1964, Marshall McLuhan coined the phrase, 'The Medium is the Message', to suggest that the medium itself, not the content it carries, should be the focus of study. The artist unearths an image imbued with a global aura of familiarity. Employing a range of photographic mediums and various methods of presentation, the artist presents a series of interpretations of this singular image. In doing so, the artist challenges the widely held assumption that a moment suspended in time is forever immutable.
