Najat Makki was commissioned to create a light installation for Dhai Dubai at Al Wasl Plaza, Expo City, Dubai.
In this installation, seven female silhouettes, Dr. Najat Makki’s hallmark, stand as embodiments of each Emirate.
The interplay between water and sand in the landscape influences the lighting, mirroring the evolving narrative of the city. This reflects the deep-rooted connection between the people of the emirates and their environment—the desert and ocean—that has historically shaped their civilization and continues to define the modern emirates we know today.
