"Abu Dhabi (Dis)connected" explores the intricate bond between people and roads, revealing how infrastructure both connects and separates, empowers and restricts, shaping a city where movement embodies both opportunity and constraint.
The exhibition showcases a two-year research project, a collaboration between the London School of Economics and Abu Dhabi University, funded by the Emirates Foundation and supported by the LSE Middle East Centre. Bringing together field research and studies from academics and students across 10 neighborhoods in Abu Dhabi, it examines the impact of roads on urban density, sprawl, and social cohesion.
Alongside the research conducted by LSE and ADU, MamarLab presented In Memory of Roundabout (25.2474195, 55.4310153) by Eman Alhashemi, along with artworks by Sara Dhafer and Khalid Esguerra.
This exhibition and programming is supported by Miza.
