A new art space has opened in Alserkal Avenue: Aisha Alabbar Gallery, named after the founder, an Emirati photographer. Established in 2018, the gallery represents a roster of approximately 20 multidisciplinary artists, including the Emirati artist Najat Makki, the Palestinian-Canadian artist Samar Hejazi and Sara Al Haddad from the UAE. For the space's first exhibition in its new home, a solo showcase of cubic, steel sculptures by the Iranian-born artist Armin Najib is on view until November 4.
A central theme of the exhibition, called -continuum, is the subtle exploration of the evolution of human existence. “The collection presents the human journey as a series of ongoing projects – creations, connections, and collaborations that continuously evolve. It serves as a poignant reminder that we are living installations, constantly in progress, shaped and reshaped over time,” reads a statement published by the gallery. @aisha_alabbar_gallery
